The MUSC Library has a reserves service, which allows faculty to place books or other items on reserve for their students to use.

What can go on reserve?

Books, journals, AV items, or a copy of a book chapter or journal article can be put on reserve. Reserve materials are housed at the 4th floor desk.
We can put up your personal items as reserves as well. Note: we regret that we do not have funding to purchase items for reserve.
If you would like to put a CD or a software program on reserve, please contact us at least two weeks ahead of time. The Lab Operations Manager will need to ensure that they will work in our computer lab. Please call 792-2277 if you have any questions.

How do I get a copy of an article or book chapter on reserve?

Please bring one or more copies of the article or book chapter to the 4th floor Service Desk, along with the completed reserve form (below). You can bring as many as you like, according to the number of students in your class. The copies must be secured in either a folder with clips or a three ring binder. We regret that we cannot supply these binders for you, nor can we make copies.

What is the check out period for a reserve item?

The usual check out time for a reserve item is two hours, in-library use only. If your items must circulate for a longer period, please contact the Learning Commons Coordinator at 792-6306.

When should I pick up my personal reserve items?

If you have a personal item on reserve, please pick it up immediately after the end of each semester.

How do I put an item on reserve?

Please fully complete and submit the form below, or print the completed form and bring with you to the Service Desk. If you are requesting a MUSC Library item be put on reserve, simply send in or bring in the completed form.
