Who can use a locker?
When and how can I check out a locker?
Lockers are available to students on the first day of classes each semester. Come to the 4th floor information desk and you will be given a locker number and combination after signing the locker agreement.
Lockers are available on a first-come first-served basis; only one locker per person.
Can I use my own lock?
No, only library locks can be used. Non-library issued locks will be cut and contents of the locker removed and brought to the 4th floor service desk. Library staff will try to contact the contents owner.
How long can I keep the locker?
Lockers are available for students until the end of each semester.
What happens at the end of the check out period?
Please remove everything from your locker. An email will be sent to your MUSC email address before, during and after Finals Exams about your locker. Materials left in lockers after finals will be available at the 4th floor service desk for one week into the new semester. After one week, they will be disposed of.
Are there any rules about what I can put in my locker?
Library materials must be checked out before placing materials in lockers.
Please do not store food or beverages in the lockers. Weapons, hazardous materials, or illegal substances are prohibited in the lockers. Lockers are subject to inspection by authorized library staff at any time.
If I am lucky enough to get a carrel, can I keep my locker?
As carrels are usually made available one week after classes begin, we encourage all students who study in the library on a regular basis to get a locker. If you are lucky enough to get a carrel and there is a waiting list for lockers, you will need to decide whether you want a carrel or a locker. If there is no waiting list for lockers you can keep both.
Please come by the 4th floor service desk or call us at 792-2381 if you have any questions.
