This introductory course provides students with the opportunity to learn a variety of microcomputer applications including database management, spreadsheet, and presentation-building applications. Students also learn how to integrate these applications. Additional attention is given to accessing information through MUSC\'s article indexes and the Internet. This course provides the student with a fundamental understanding of the systems development life cycle, particularly as it relates to the design, development and implementation of health information systems. The role of strategic information systems planning in developing health information networks is emphasized. Students also gain hands on experience in using various data and process modeling tools.
